Nawal Mdallaly, Director and Founder of Sawa for Development Association
Sawa is dedicated to education and social development, particularly for women and children in marginalized communities in the Bekaa. The organization also addresses environmental issues and was granted Special Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC in 2020.
Sawa is a member of the “Girls Not Brides,” the National Coalition for the Prevention of Early Child Marriage, Anna Lindh Foundation, International Women Peace Group (IWPG), Pure Heart Foundation, and Peace Insight.
Mdallaly has over than 22 years of experience in academia, political engagement, and social activities in developing countries, with a primary focus on the Middle East Region. She is actively involved in peacebuilding initiatives in the Middle East to encourage youth and women to use dialogue and peace in their daily lives to reduce tension between different communities.
She is also a member of The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, Save the Children International, and Pure Heart Foundation, which supports children suffering from congenital heart diseases. Additionally, she collaborates with the International Women’s Peace Group in South Korea, promoting peace through art in schools.
