Nawal Mdallaly, Director and Founder of Sawa for Development Association
Sawa is dedicated to the education and social development especially women and children in marginalized communities in the Bekaa, including environmental issues. SAWA was granted a Special Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC in 2020. The organization is a member of the “Girlsnotbrides”, National Coalition for the prevention of early child marriage, Anna Lindh Foundation, International Women Peace Group (IWPG), Pure Heart Foundation and Peace Insight, Mdallaly has more than 22 years of experience from academia, political and social activities in developing countries, with a primary focus on the Middle East Region. She is engaged in working on peace building in the Middle East to encourage youth and women to use dialogue and peace in their daily lives to reduce tension between different communities. She is a member of The Alliance for child protection in Humanitarian Action , Save the children international and Pure Heart Foundation that help children suffering from congenital heart diseases and the International Women Peace Group in South Korea, working on promoting peace through art in schools.
