Mireille El Hamoush
Mireille El Hamouche, Deputy Director and Program Leader at FDCD
El Hamouche holds a Master’s degree in Simultaneous Interpretation and has served as a university professor and freelance interpreter, working primarily in conflict zones. Her work with the UN Interim Forces in Southern Lebanon after the 2006 Israeli war on Lebanon was a pivotal experience, leading her to realize her passion for building bridges and fostering understanding among conflicting parties.
The onset of the Syrian crisis further solidified Mireille’s commitment to peacebuilding. She joined reconciliation and peacebuilding programs as an interpreter and later became an active contributor to these efforts. Driven by her passion, she pursued a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Security and volunteered with FDCD as the coordinator of the Syria Youth Peacebuilding Program. This role marked the beginning of an unplanned journey that led her to receive intensive training in NGO management, mediation, and conflict resolution, ultimately leading to her current leadership position at FDCD.
El Hamouche continues to pursue advanced studies in Mediation and Conflict Resolution while mobilizing communities on both national and international levels. She takes great pride in being a mother of three— Maria, Joe, and Laetitia — a role that fuels her dedication to being an agent of change and making a positive impact wherever possible.
