Khouloud AlKhatib, Executive Director of Louder
AlKhatib is the Executive Director of LOUDER, a Human Rights and Peacebuilding Organization, based in Lebanon, and a leading expert in human rights with a specialization in UN protective mechanisms and the MENA region. Her extensive work addresses a broad range of critical themes, including refugee and minority rights, gender equality, criminal justice, investigative journalism, international humanitarian law, and fair trial standards. Additionally, she is a renowned trainer and expert on the Women, Youth, and Peace and Security agenda.
Driven by a profound commitment to human rights advocacy, Dr. AlKhatib has collaborated with numerous international, regional, and national organizations. She has empowered thousands of activists, human rights defenders, lawyers, journalists, and women’s rights advocates through targeted training sessions, advocacy campaigns, and legal support initiatives. Her efforts have played a pivotal role in integrating rights-based approaches within security forces and judicial systems across Lebanon, Iraq, and Sudan.
Notable achievements in her career include developing a human rights training curriculum for Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces; mainstreaming gender-sensitive approaches into Iraq’s Code of Conduct; and designing executive plans for implementing Iraq’s National Action Plan (NAP) on UNSCR 1325.
Dr. AlKhatib’s expertise in women’s rights spans international conventions such as CEDAW, gender mainstreaming, GBV prevention, political participation, conflict prevention, and transitional justice. Her contributions include developing two innovative mobile applications for women’s rights in Lebanon and Iraq; drafting a domestic violence law in Qatar; and creating content for a digital platform addressing refugee rights in Jordan.
In addition to her advocacy work, Dr. AlKhatib is an academic leader. She holds a Ph.D. in International Law and two master’s degrees in Public and Private Law, complemented by a diploma in NGO Management. She is a member of the Lebanese Bar Association and an associate professor of International Law at the Lebanese University.
Her extensive research portfolio covers key areas such as human rights, women’s rights, governance reform, civic education, sustainable development, peacebuilding, and preventing violent extremism in the Middle East. Dr. AlKhatib’s publications and analytical articles are widely cited and recognized by leading international organizations.
