Cathy Chami Tyan

Cathy Chami Tyan, a board member of the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW)

Tyan is the head of NCLW’s environmental committee, currently working on integrating the gender component in climate change policies. She is also a member of NCLW’s Culture, Media, and Women’s Participation in Politics and Decision-Making Committees, all advocating for women’s rights.

She is a firm believer in women’s participation in political life and their role as peacebuilders. She is a freelance environmental consultant and one of the founders of World Environment Group, where she worked as chief editor of World Environment magazine. She advocates environmentalism among children and within corporations as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

Tyan holds a degree in Communications and Languages from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Mediation degree, “Certificat d’aptitude à la pratique professionnelle de la médiation” from the Centre Professionnel de Médiation, Université St Joseph, Beirut- Lebanon. She has represented the NCLW in the first meeting of the Arab Women’s Mediation Network.
